Utility

MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT

BELLSOUTH UNIFORM PROGRAM

This Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the Communications Workers of America (CWA) and BellSouth Telecommunications, Inc. (BST) outlines the agreement reached by the parties regarding amendments to Appendix C, Part XIX of the BST Working Agreement, and Appendix B of the Utility Operations Working Agreement.

The agreed-upon amendments are as follows:

  • The Company will credit each participant in the Uniform Program a one-time, $225.00 allowance in addition to the 2007 annual credit for the purchase of AT&T branded uniforms.
  • Electronic Technicians who currently work in the Central Office may opt out of the Uniform Program during a special opt out period on the same basis as Electronic Technicians and Testing Technicians in the centers may opt out. Further, any new employee entering the Electronic Technician title in the Central Office will not be eligible for the uniform program.
  • An approved CWA logo will be placed on the uniform shirt sleeve, cap, and outerwear by the vendor.
  • All other provisions of the Uniform Program remain in effect.
  • This Memorandum of Agreement is effective with the execution of this agreement and will remain effective for the life of the 2004 Working Agreements.

For the Union:  Noah V. Savant, Vice President CWA District 3

For the Company:  Michael L. Matthews, Vice President Labor Relations

Uniform Rebranding Facts

CWA LOGO

  • If an employee chooses to wear a uniform with a Union logo, placement of the CWA logo will be on the sleeve of all shirts, caps and outerwear (except overalls).
  • CWA emblem will be the same size as Company logo (1.5" on shirts, coveralls).
  • CWA logo Style (see below image).

Transition Process

  • Continue to Wear BLS Apparel.
  • Will be approximately 60-90 days before AT&T garments are available.
  • Moratorium on orders pending production of AT&T uniforms (excluding pants, shorts or skirts).
  • During the transition, customer facing employees receive first priority for AT&T branded apparel.
  • Mitigate spending of current employee allocation by:
    1. Only charging the employee's account on items that can be used in the AT&T branding guidelines (i.e., pants, shorts, skirts, socks).
    2. Providing new hires necessary BLS uniform shirts and jacket without deduction in allocation until AT&T apparel is available.
    3. Handle emergency employee's needs with current BLS stock (i.e., fire destroyed employee clothes, work-related damaged items, etc.) as necessary.
  • Will credit account with all deductions made for items previously ordered but not delivered; however, orders previously placed for pants, shorts, or shirts will be filled as soon as possible.
  • Program will transition throughout the year; however, as AT&T branded apparel is provided employees should cease wearing the BLS branded shirts/ourter wear.
  • An additional $225.00 will be added to the employee's annual credit for 2007.

Garments

  • Uniforms continue to be "Made in America".
  • 100% cotton shirts will be available in white only as today.
  • Employees may continue to wear existing BLS pants, shorts and skirts.
  • Coveralls/overalls will continue to be offered.
  • No cost difference for the new plan items.
  • Retirement of the BLS uniforms no later than end of year 2007.

Opt Out Program

  • Current Central Office Electronic Technicians may opt out of the Uniform Program.
  • New entrants into the Central Office Electronic Technician title will not be eligable for the Uniform Program.
